The Panama Canal Expansion, completed in 2016, added a third lane of locks capable of handling Post-Panamax vessels — ships over 1,200 feet long and weighing up to 120,000 tons.
This massive infrastructure project required materials capable of withstanding corrosive marine environments, seismic stress, and continuous mechanical load — a challenge ideally suited to JM’s expertise in heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant fasteners.
JM Tor Par supplied a variety of structural and high-strength fasteners, including:
- Heavy Hex Bolts and Cap Screws in different grades
- Custom hot-forged fasteners for mechanical assemblies and lock gate structures
Each component was hot forged, heat-treated, and precision-machined to deliver consistent tensile strength and dimensional accuracy, ensuring reliable performance under harsh tropical and saline conditions.
